Term 4 Goals!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my goals for this term is to do a little more about fractions (Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. I want to keep this in my head and not forget it because in my college test I completely forgot how to figure it out. My second goal for Term 4 is to get better at persuasive writing I need to practice this a bit more because I need to learn a bit more before I got to college. My third and final goal for this term is to start looking deeper into what a books meaning is whilst reading. This could be helpful when it comes to writing a book review or even a film review.

$%$# Week 4 #$%$

In tech arts, we learnt about rock music and how it was formed. I also learnt London bridge is falling down on the keyboard.

I also learnt about the volume of cylindrical shapes all you need to do is multiply the face of the shape by the length of the shape.

I also made a maze using scratch that has a costume selection this is MY MAZE GAME I also started a two-player game on scratch

I presented my speech to the class on why magic is amazing. It just meets the time limit three minutes and one second the time limit was three minutes.

Week 3

Week three has been a lot about speeches. I finished my speech this week. In tech arts we made a blues song   http://will6121.blogspot.co.nz/ and I made one on no WiFi blues. I learnt how to find the circumference of a circle all you need to do is multiply pi by the diameter. The diameter of a circle is the width of the circle. I also learnt more about volume. I also learnt that in a speech it is good to introduce your speech in an interesting way. We also learnt in tech arts about how music effects adverts.

!!@$ WEEK 1 TERM 3 $@!!

During week three we did not have Mrs Crowe so our principal Mr McCabe filled in. I learnt about how to figure out angles without a protractor. This is not fully accurate but it gives you an idea of what the answer would be if it is a 100 degree angle you find the 90 degrees and you estimate the left over parts of the angle. I also learnt about Irish dance in our tech arts I learnt that in Irish dance there is normally a story containing a good side and bad side. Each side will normally have a lead male but the good sides male lead is normally accompanied by a lead female. I also extended my knowledge on scratch which is a simple coding website this is what I made https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/168256565/#editor There is still some stuff I am working on. This week we had a layed back week all production students were away all week practicing so we had to just finish off all of our work.

I did a lot of revision whilst doing ratio I had to remember everything I got wrong in ratio.

We didn't have tech arts this week as all production students were away. on Thursday we had robotics I learnt a lot about an app called expedition Atlantis. In this app you have to make the virtual robot go a certain distance another student called Orion (blog link http://oriion2288.blogspot.co.nz/ ) showed me how to use a algorithm to figure out the answer much quicker to do this you have to divide the wheel rotations by the distance that the rotations take you then multiply by the distance you have to go. In simpler form

A=algorithm
WD= wheel rotation distance
R=wheel rotations
L=distance
R ÷ WD x L = A

So to revise this week it was quite a lazy week.

##$%WEEK 9%$##

Week nine has been a very fun week. I have learnt how to divide fractions using *reciprocals i have learnt that all you have to do is make the fraction on the end of the question into a reciprocal then just use the same method as multiplying fractions then you have an answer.

I also learnt how to make the best mince I have ever tasted. All I used was 3/4 cup of water, 500g of mince and a taco seasoning pack. First I added the mince to a element at medium heat mixed it around till no red was left then I added the water and taco seasoning, left it to simmer for 10 minutes, Lastly serve the best mince ever and eat.

I have also learnt to use ratio ratio I found quite easy it is basically just a comparison of two numbers for example: There is a school bus with 15 students 8 are girls write the ratio of boys and girls. The answer: 8:7 as you can see this is just a way of comparing.

Me and the other year eights had the privilege of making our cafe in food tech. In this task we had to learn how to make a dish we then invited family or friends to come and feast upon our meals. The dish I created was a big plate of wraps I used the recipe above to make our mince then just made some toppings.

That has been my week nine learning reflection.

I have learnt a lot in maths I have been doing revision on how to work out problems involving fractions I learnt a real easy way to find the biggest fraction. How I do it is that I make the fraction into a decimal an easy way I learnt is that if the fraction is 5/8 you would divide 5 by 8 so an easier way is to divide the denominator by the numerator. I also have learnt to use an asterisk in my pieces of writing An *asterisk is a symbol that looks like this * you use it to normally describe a word normally at the bottom of a piece of writing.



















The definition of an asterisk is a symbol that is a six pointed star that is most often used to denote an absence or omission of information, or to refer a reader to a notation.

This is a reflection on week three of term two. in this week I have learnt many things. In algebra I learnt back tracking which was a personal goal I also learnt how in algebra you do not use division and multiplication instead you use alternative options.

 I also learnt in food how to make a pizza and in my eyes I think it was perfect. We also made in our first session toast roll ups and dip sticks we used many filling for our toast roll ups I learnt that creamed corn is not that bad. Some friends and I made up a team for the EPro8 challenge which is going to be held next week. 

I also started my inquiry which is on a execution camp in world war ll it was call Belzec it was the death place of over 400,000 people. No one survived this camp. When the Germans were afraid of losing the war they tried to cover up the fact of how they were killing so many Jews and gypsies by trying to make it into a farm a innocent looking farm. This was a failed attempt to cover it up. I am starting on my model of this death camp and hope to complete it with great looks.

Week 2 Term 2 !!!

I have learnt many things concerning maths i have learnt all about expressions and equations  i learnt that a expression is a shortened version of a equation in a equation you use multiplication and division symbols but in expressions you do not you write them differently, shorter. I also learnt how to make sherbet in science using things we learnt about acids and basses and neutrals from last week; I learnt that the acids in sherbet neutralize when touched by water or sliver which causes the fizzing. I also learnt more on how to use nouns properly and what kinds there are.

Term 2 First Week+Goals !!!

In the first week back at school I have learnt many things. Firstly in science we learnt about acids, basses and neutrals. We also learnt how when a acid combines with a base it becomes a neutral. We did a test to test our a ability in trying to find out if it was a acid or a base by just touching smelling and tasting our group scored 100%. we then put our knowledge to the test and had some fun making bath bombs. I also learnt a lot about different nouns and how to acknowledge them. 

Term 1 reflection !!!!

Term one has been a great term I revised a lot of stuff and learnt some new tricks with division. Did you know to find out if a number is divisible by nine you can do this easy trick where if the number was 81 for example, then you would go 1+8=9 so it is divisible by 9. It also works if it is 99 because 9+9=18 but 18 is divisible by two to equal nine so it still works weird but easy. we also learnt loads of things in science and the football season started. we finished sewing where we made our Jerseys which was a new thing for me. One of the best things was becoming a year eight. Term one has been an exiting term filled with lots of activities.

Week 10

This week has been packed with loads of different things. Through out this week I learnt many different things. In french we learnt all the dates of the month from January all the way to December. We also learnt that there is a village in France that loves New Zealanders. Because during world war two they were boxed in by the Germans then a small rifle brigade climbed over the wall and saved the village. Then in science we learnt about solids, liquids and gasses. then we learnt how to make salt water turn into clear water. We even made slime. Then on Friday I participated in the W.I.M S football trials. Then to finish off the week the whole school was involved with the inter house summer games I supported our house in softball where we went undefeated.

Wellington School Camp

On our first day we visited Zealandia which is a urban bird sanctuary I learnt a lot about birds and their calls I also learnt that kaka's are not decedents from the kea. We also visited the New Zealand Holocaust center I learnt a lot about the tragic period of time we call the Holocaust, we also got the chance to hear a story from one of the Holocaust survivors who worked at the museum. Then we went to Weta Workshop and learned about props and how they make them and all the effort off set that goes into the films that we know and love. Then the next day we visited the Space Place there we learnt a lot about the creation of our planet.
We also visited parliament we met Andrew Little and had ago in a mock debate chamber then we had a walk around the building. After that we went to the Wahini Disaster Museum we we learnt a lot about how and when the tragedy occurred. The next day we visited a place called Capital E where we did two different workshops. Group ones first workshop was called OnTV the layout of OnTV room was set up like a proper TV studio we were all given jobs such as interviewers fairy tale characters that were interviewed and presenters these were just the ones in front of the camera I was given the job of studio director so I was in charge of the studio then there was the director who was incharge of the whole thing you can watch the final result here --->   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z3pkrNt2yU this was definitely my favorite thing on camp. Our second work shop was in the media lab part of the building here we got to make our own virtual reality world. afterwards we all got view our own and other peoples creations. On our final full day we visited the Ellington so where we saw many different animals some of which I had never seen before after we had finished our look around the zoo we had something to eat at the cafe and some of us purchased a gift from the gift shop. Then we headed of for a marine reserve there we did some snorkeling we saw amazing fish and felt some freezing cold water. After that we headed back to the camp where we got ready for the long trip home. Next day we woke got our stuff on the bus and headed home.

in week five I have learnt how to make a hood for a hoodie in sewing I also learnt how to make a pocket. I also revised on how to use fractions in maths we also competed on Friday in our school swimming competition where we competed in many races such as backstroke, freestyle and even a bomb competition. I have also started a explanation on why I think the Colosseum is a wonder of the world and I have learnt a lot about the architectural side of the massive build. I have also learnt about how to round decimals and other numbers. 

first week of 2017

we have recently started school again yesterday we had a pophiri to invite all the new year sevens into our school. It was nice to see students from our previous schools. I hope all the new year sevens enjoy their time here at school.
